A great bit of color for your new or old school ride - these are aluminum brake barrel adjusters. For old school bikes these would be used on your side pull caliper brake - on a new school bike this would thread into the mounts on the frame for the cable for your 990 brakes.
The color is baked on the head and the adjusting collar.
