Air-Uni BMX Number Plate (original 1980's molds!) XL - WHITE

Air-Uni Number Plate - new production using the original mold from 1984. These are the extra large ones for use with old school Pro bars.
Size: 10 3/4" tall and 15 3/4" wide (down tube velcro is spaced 9" apart and is about 5 1/2" lower than the upper velcro).
Color: WHITE
These were designed in 1981 with the help of Brent Patterson for the famous "Patterson Plate" that help rockect Uni and Brent to BMX fame. The original mold had holes for zip ties but around 1983 or early 1984 the mold was modified to use velcro straps and that is the mold these are made from. The material use has a new brighter dye and molds out thinner than the old plates. These are also made in the same facility in Oregon that also produces the modern Uni seats and the grips.

Now also available as an option are the decal frames to make these look just like the original plates (see 2nd picture). These are top quality screenprinted decals on UV resistant vinyl. Save $2 by buying the decal at the same time as you buy a plate. Decals come UNAPPLIED - you must apply the decal yourself. Here are the instructions:
1. There are 3 layers to the decal you will receive. The top clear layer is called "application tape". The middle layer is the actual decal. The bottom layer is the backing. To apply the decal, first be sure your number plate is clean (wipe with isopropyl alcohol).
2. Next, remove the backing from the decal (do NOT remove the clear application tape layer yet).
3. Carefully apply the decal to the number plate. It is best to have a helper to hold the decal while you center it and stick the middle of the decal down first then work to the edges, applying even pressure to prevent air bubbles under the decal. If you mess up, carefully peel the decal back off (this only works if less than half of the decal has been adhered.. any more than that and you risk stretching or ripping the decal).
4. Once the decal is fully adhered to the number plate, carefully peel off the clear application tape layer.
5. Now you have the option of removing the center white rectangle in the middle of the plate. If you are racing in a sanctioned race, you must have your number applied to a white background (that's why we left this big white piece in the middle). If this is going on a show bike or a bike that won't be raced in a sanctioned race, you can peel this middle piece off (it is already cut) to reveal the color of your number plate underneath.
6. If you end up with an air bubble trapped under the decal, you can use a pin to prick a tiny hole in the vinyl, then use your fingers to work the air out that pin prick hole.
If you don't feel comfortable applying the decal, check with a local printer or sign shop to help you. There are no returns and no refunds for decals.
