IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ: This is our 2nd generation of this product - the engraving on the back says "2012" for the year instead of "2010" as the picture shows (As an aside: the engraving is on the BACK of the spider). We made a slight recess on the backside of the ears as the spider has to be installed in front of the chainring on some applications to get proper chain alignment. Chain alignment is unbelievably important for both YOUR SAFETY and performance/smoothness of the drivetrain. Because of this, we highly recommend all drivetrain products such as this be installed by a professional bicycle mechanic. If you choose to install this product yourself, be sure the chain is in exact alignment between the rear sprocket and the front sprocket. For 3 piece cranks this may require shimming with spacers. For one piece cranks your only adjustment is mounting the chainring on one side of the spider or the other. On one piece crank applications, sometimes you can also space the rear wheel to bring the rear sprocket into alignment. Unfortunately, drivetrain components are not plug and play. This is because there are 100's of wheel hubs, cranks, frames, spiders/power discs, chainrings/wheels, etc. that have been made over the past 30 years of BMX and making all of it work together takes proper installation and adjustment.
