What does double butted mean?
Double-butted spokes have reduced thickness over the center section and are LIGHTER, more elastic, and more aerodynamic than spokes of uniform thickness. It's hard to see it from the picture, but most of the center section of the spoke is a thinner gauge than the 14 gauge ends.
