Herbert L. Flake owned a bicycle distributing company in Houston Texas from 1912 to 1988. At some point in that time period, they had their own "Texas Special" bicycles made (mainly by Schwinn) and then badged them with one of these head tube emblems. This is an aluminum plate with the Texas Special logo printed on one side. There is no adhesive - they are attached with tiny screws (like Schwinn bicycle head tube emblems from the 1970's and earlier). Screws are NOT included nor do we have a source for the screws.
Dimensions: 3.5" tall X 1.25" wide (this is the curved width, not the linear width)
Distance between the center of each mounting hole: 2.56"
Mounting hole diameter: 0.1" (must be mounted with screws or rivets - this is not self adhesive)
The chance of finding a Texas Special is fairly slim - but these would also great for a Rat Rod or Lowrider bicycle project or for any bike you're wanting to customize.
These are NOS (New-Old Stock) which is a brand new, never used item that was manufactured long ago and has been stored since then. In this case, these are at LEAST 30 years old and probably older. As such, they made shown small scratches and other wear from being stored/moved around.
