FIRST OFF: We do not accept returns on NOS items. Therefore, read carefully before buying.
This is a set of original Fishbone 120mm flatland cranks. I will do my best to provide all details but before buying this, if you have questions, ASK FIRST. And if it's something we don't know, check out the Fishbone group on Facebook, which is run by Jackie himself (founder, owner, and genius behind Fishbone).
When I first acquired these cranks, I immediately assumed they were for a pit bike or similar kid sized bike. But I've since been told these was a shorty crank meant for flatland. Which is correct? No idea.
How many of these strange cranksets were made? No idea - but I've never seen another one and I can't find them at all via a Google search.
There is KUE-Q engraved on the spindle and the spindle bolts, which is a Taiwanese crankset manufacturer - so that is who made them for Fishbone.
The spindle is engraved with "36 teeth Axle 145mm" (although the box says it's a 19x48T spindle).
The bottom bracket uses German made 6004 bearings.
The box say CR-MO (although this immediately proceeds the spindle spec - so not sure if it is only referring to the spindle or to the arms as well).
The box label has "L : 120" handwritten but when I measure center of spindle to center of pedal boss, I'm getting around 127mm. There is a LOT of offset to them though, so 120mm may be right due to the angle of the arm.
As far as condition, they are NOS (New-Old Stock). Since it's Fishbone, that probably means post-Big Ass so right around 1999-2002 or so. Since they were a little oily from the factory, they're a little dirty from being stored - but the dirt wipes off and surfaces appear pristine beneath. They have definitely never been out of the packaging (original staple in the hardware bag, spindle has never been unwrapped, etc.) - which, is the big reason we will never accept a return on an NOS item. As soon as someone starts ripping open bags and such, the value drops like a rock.
I will also note that the Fishbone logos on the crank arms and even on the box are STICKERS.
I only have the one set. As mentioned, I've never seen another one and can't even find these mentioned anywhere online. Hit us up at [email protected] if we've left any other important information out in describing these.
